About Me

Hi! My name is Dasa (pronounce as Dasha) and I’m outdoor enthusiast. If my parents are reading this, they would shake their heads already at the first sentence. I grew up in the small town among the mountains in northern part of Slovakia, in the family of hikers. But I H*A*T*E*D hiking! I went on and on with saying: “When I grow up, I will never ever hike again!” 😀 My mom always laughs, that only way to motivate me was assigning me a teacher’s position so I could be the first and lead the group.

As soon as I moved out from Slovakia and studied in Prague, I became a traveler….not in exact sense but I was moving from country to country and one of the activities, which reminded me family time  and was close to my heart, because it was so normal, when I was a kid, was hiking. Shocking, isn’t it?

I lived and worked longer or shorter time in Czech Republic, USA, Cyprus and Ireland. One would think that I would stay at my last stop in Ireland forever, but work opportunity and bad weather brought me to hiking paradise – Switzerland.

Fast forward, here we are. Everytime I can choose an activity, it is an outdoor one. Either hiking, trail running, mountain biking, camping or even collecting wild garlic… anything, which has something to do with nature and being out.

And more I work or longer days I am in the office, more I need to escape to the mountains and refuel my soul and body with positivity and energy.

For me it is almost a spiritual act. I keep saying to my great hiking buddy, that some people attend Sunday mass, some go hiking.

So, why I got to write the blog? I’m getting many questions about, where can we go hiking? Where can I bring my visitors? Where there is a nice view? Where can we do the bbq? Where is some lake to jump in and have a wild bath?

Since some of you prefer to see the picture for inspiration and figure out all by yourself, feel free to follow me on Instagram “myswisshikes” where I will share the teasers and short tips 😊

One last note, I have changed the names of my friends in the stories to keep their privacy.
